[ANSWERED] After integrating updates, install.win becomes too big for UEFI installation

Hallo Forum,
after integrating the available 63 Windows and Framework patches, I let winreducer create an UEFI ISO image.


Unfortunately, the install.wim file is 4.664.793 KB and too big to fit on a FAT32 formatted USB stick which is needed to install in UEFI mode.
 
Any hint where I might have may have a mistake and any solution for this issue?

hmm i never really tried uefi and such big files, but maybe splitting the wim file will help?

you can do that at the "save in wim file" section, just enter the size when you will let it spltt and you will get a splitted wim file which you can copy to your fat32 usb stick.

As KrX said, use the "save in wim file", under tools, I think, or at the last screen before you click on the apply button to start the reduction.

Alternatively simply use the tool called Rufus to format a USB stick bootable with NTFS.
Works fine for UEFI installations.

most of my USB sticks I use are from Transcend JetFlash 600. They always work fine.
(my personal option) Do not use USB 3.0 sticks for this. I havn't found a working one till now.

Within Rufus I choose:

MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI computers
NTFS
4096 bytes (Default)
Quick format

With Winreducer I create a ISO.
I extract the ISO with 7zip to the USB stick.

Then I reboot my computer, hit F11 ( this may differ on other mainboards ) and then choose to boot from my UEFI: USB Stick

Thats it.
Works for me for more than 100 times.

Unfortunately, your suggested method does not work for me.
To install Widows 8.1 on a GPT partition I need a bootable USB stick formatted with FAT32, otherwise I cannot boot in UEFI mode.
Anyhow I tried your suggested method but failed, because the Stick does not boot in UEFI mode.

Hi Chang_loo.
You can use Rufus to format in FAT32 also.

You can use this this link for the settings to use Rufus:
Set Rufus with the settings below:

• Under Device, select the USB flash drive you want to format and use.
  
• Under Format Options, check Create a bootable disk using, click/tap on the browse icon to navigate to and select your ISO file.
  
• Under Partition scheme and target system type, select GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer.
  
• Under File system, select FAT32.
  
• Under Cluster size, select the (Default) it has listed.
  
• Under Format Options, check Quick format.
  
• Under Format Options, check Create extended label and icon files.
  
• Under New volume label, you can enter any name you like for the USB flash drive, or leave the default name
  

Thats what I have used
