TOPIC MOVED TO "HELP" FORUM !  Wink

Hello,

WinReducer 8.1 detects if in your ISO "sources" folder, there is a file named "install.esd". So if it's detected, you could just update an existing windows installation (xp, seven or 8 ) to 8.1. In fact, you can't use such ISO to create a new fresh installation.

WinReducer 8.1 do not support these upgrade ISO, at least for the moment ...  Wink

Could you check if your ISO contains such "install.esd" file ? And if you also have an "install.wim" file ? (all in the same ISO "sources" folder) ... Let me know please !  Very Happy

EDIT : It seems that some people are using esd files to compress even more their "install.wim" file in their ISO ... As DISM in the update 1 will support esd files, I'm currently doing some tests and I will let you know.

EDIT 1 : It's so slow to compress that I'm not sure that's a good idea : 5 minutes to compress a 1 Gb "install.wim" file  to esd file ... And it compresses "install.wim by 1/3 ... But too slow for me.
The best choice should be to use the tutorial made by theKramer (LINK) to convert your windows edition to a compatible file (= "install.wim" instead of "install.esd").

"install.wim" files are much much more faster to use !!!!!!

Hi winterstorm2050

Thank you for replay and for moving the topic Smile , my iso contain only "install.esd" file , but I use it to install fresh copy of windows on new computer. any way as you said I have tow option :
1- to convert it using the method on your link.
2- or find new ISO file with "install.wim" on it.

i'll go with option 2 easier Smile .

thank you.
