I am using the newest available version of WinReducer 8.1 (v1.00 RC1), and there seems to be some problem with the Update Integration feature.

1) Malicious Software Removal Tool: This update can't be downloaded automatically, resulting in an error: "ERROR : 15.01.2014 19:32:31 ==> Windows-KB890830-x64-V5.7.exe = "Der Remoteserver hat einen Fehler zurückgegeben: (404) Nicht gefunden."

2) Apart from that: "Windows-KB890830-x64-V5.7.exe" isn't even the current version (it is more than a month old). The new version should be V5.8.

3) Anyway, the whole slipstreaming feature seems to be broken. I created my ISO with all available updates (around 850 MB larger in size), but none of them seem to be really installed. Windows Update still shows a large list of available updates, and also the Visual C++ runtimes are not installed (e.g. no msvcr100.dll, msvcr120.dll etc. on the system)

Please fix this! Smile

I haven't tested the C++ runtimes, but my Updates seemed to install fine. I even manually sneakily snuck in my own (the WMP .msu) and that got succesfully integrated. I believe one of the 'optimizations' breaks update? Or perhaps the ISO you're using as your base has already been tampered with?

Hi mannik.
This is a very important point actually. You need to slipstream to an untouched ISO. You cannot integrate updates to an already reduced ISO..

Hello,

1. and 2. I missed that so I will update it. Thank you. DONE : Added in RC2 !

3. C++ Runtimes are not updates, WinReducer 8.1 will only download all executable. This is my fault because I need to remove the word "Updates" for some category to clarify it. it will be done in RC2. Thank you ! DONE : Added in RC2 !

Thank yous for your responses! Smile

In fact I am using a totally untouched ISO, so that can't be the reason.

@winterstorm2050: Thank you for changing this in RC2! So, is there any way to include the Visual C++ Runtimes in my ISO? Because if not, why is there even the option to download them?

Yes, you could integrate them using the "System - WinReducer Post Installation" : OEM or OOBE method.

Oh ok, thank you for the information! Smile

One more question concerning Update Integration: If I have an 8.1 RTM built on 10/17/2013 (so the real GA one, not the one that was leaked before and then also available on TechNet), do I even need the GA Rollup updates? The way I see it, those were all created by the end of September, so nearly a month before the ISO became available. Is this just for those with the "old" RTMs or also for me?

No you don't need GA Rollup, so yes GA Rollup is only for previous builds ... In fact, if you download them and try to slipstream them in a RTM built, windows will check and will skip them.

Just a tought, if you plan to use "System - WinReducer Post Installation", try the OOBE, it could be simplier to use if you don't know exactly how to do ...  Wink
