[SOLVED] Error while downloading extra Software needed for WinReducer

Hey Winter!

I sometimes get an error downloading the extra software needed for WinReducer. When I get to "Processing in progress ... ImageX and oscimg" i get an unhandeld exception from the Microsoft .Net Framework.

I need to tell you that i have disabled the .Net framework services and maybe therefore this error occurs.

If i then click on close and reenter the download area the files seems to be there, but the are not present in the folder - if I then force the download to redownload everything i get an error that there are still files missing.

I am the administrator of the system so i guess it is not an administrative problem. I am using Windows 7 SP1.

Ok I did some research here and it seems to me like it has to do with access rights. So I have for example installed Spybot Search & Destroy and applied passive protection - this seems to change every new folder created in any normal (not system) directory from normal rights for everyone to write protected rights!

My solution is: Open the properties of the Winreducer folder and change the write protection - this seems to solve the problem for me.

Ok Winter, I have an Update!

The actual problem seem to result from a registry manipulation from a program called "XP-Antispy" aswell. I do not know if you have heard of this program bevore, but if you select the false settings it will totaly break the additional software installation (except 7-zip, ACL, and ResHacker) for WinReducer10.0. For WinReducer 7.0 it somehow only seems to make trouble with "odcdimg". If you want and have some time you can download the program and test it yourself!

So I revised this error once again! And here is the exact description:

I downloaded WinReducerEX7.0 1.1.10.0, unpacked it directly in the root folder of my D: drive, started the program, unchecked automatic update notification, went to the sofware section, put all the third party sofware from off to on and put the default theme to off. Then I ticked the checkbox for the forced download and startet the download. 7-zip 9.38 passed and installed perfectly. It went on to processing ImageX and Oscdimg with the 6 cab files from WAIK 8.1 (why do we need here the ones from Windows 8.1 ?? ) and when it is finished withe the sixt file the error shows up.

It says 'DIRECTORY IS NOT EMPTY' (which is 'Das Verzeichnis ist nicht leer' in German) and the rest of the error code from above.

I believe it has to do with some files that WinReducer tries to remove right after downloading, but I can be wrong. If I am right, then maybe it would be a solution to leave the files there untouched, because I don't think that they would be too big to bother anybody.

Are you always using a WinReduced Windows 7 as running operating system ?

Yes I use a reduced Windows 7 SP1_x64 with all updates until january 2016 as a basis! I also thought about that this might lead to the problem, but I was not sure! I will show you my wccf file to let you see which components I removed that might could have caused this trouble.

Hello Winter!

I just wantet to tell you that I have tried to download the extra software like 7-zip etc. with the latest version of WinReducer7.0 (1.4.6.0) and it works without any error, altough it now takes quite some time in downloading the programs (2-3 minutes)!

If any one else in this forum had problems with the extra software, please check the latest version so that Winter can close this bug as corrected!
