Error while mounting ISO

Hi!

Hopefully i'm doing something wrong and you can easily guide me towards solution Smile

So the problem occure while I try to mount w8.1_64bit.ISO. Error is the well known "Your file is not mounted correctly... Hit OK to clean your system".

The ISO I'm using is the very same we use for our clean installations so I doubt that there is something wrong with that.

What I want to do with WinReducer is to slipstream updates into our installation to reduce the time. And maybe more if I get this done.

Seems like there is no help at the logs either:

Winreducer version is v.1.4.1.0, it  is located under %userprofile%, OS is W8.1 64Bit and app is running with elevated rights.
Extraction seems ok:
winreducerex81\WORK\EXTRACT\ExtractedByWinReducer\sources has "install.wim"

Any ideas?

Hello,

Could you please try this :
- Launch WinReducer
- Use "EXIT" button (without doing anything else)
- Restart your computer
- Disable your antivirus and firewall (or use a virtual machine to test the procedure)
- Relaunch WinReducer and try to mount again your ISO

And if it won't work again, please look at the dism.log file, you will find it in "C:\Windows\Logs\DISM" folder. Then check it for "Error" message and let me know (if you prefer you may contact me by PM).

Another ideas :
- Is your ISO a MS official ISO, have you checked the SHA1 value ? If you need assistance about this, just tell me. It is recommended to use an official ISO in order to avoid possible unwanted changes in the ISO.
- If it's possible to send me a download link for your ISO (by PM), like this I will be able to identify what happen.

Hi,

And thanks for your quick response.

I tried suggested methods but did not complete successfully. My original installation image is from W8.1 Pro 64Bit OEM DVD.
SHA1: 42458E48CECEBAB8BF5D58220478FDA42B0D2990

I also tried creating new ISO with MS's media creation tool, but that gave me same error. Do you know if those images should be supported?

About the DISM logs. There are errors, see example:

But it seems that there is something wrong with my source image. Should I order a new one..

I'm so excited about this tool, I only wish that I could get this up and running!  Very Happy

Yes, I read your document but there is something weird ... so I'm downloading this ISO to test it directly and I will report back here the result.

With the exact same ISO, I checked the SHA1, and I was able to correctly mount the ISO without troubles.

So, maybe something on your computer is locking the process (antivirus, or other similar software). If you may try to reinstall your operating system, for example in a Virtual Machine and launch EX-81 iso mount from it to confirm that works.

You may also try to download EX-100, then download an ISO from this thread (point 1) : https://winreducer.forumotion.com/t1436-windows-10-official-iso-download-links#12938
Then mount this ISO in EX-100 to see if the mount process is working on your computer.

Hi!

Thanks for your answer. I was on short vacation but now back at the saddle and will try your suggestions.
I'll try with fresh w8.1 machine without any protection.

So far I've been working with w8.1 machine with F-secure and on virtual w8.1 without AV.

I'll let you know the results.

ok, that did the trick.

Have to investigate at some point if the problem was caused by the computer being domain member or something. 

Next step is to test installation. Seems promising!

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback, just for the record I'm using a Windows 8.1.3 (with April 2016 updates) with my own wccf preset, which is almost an extreme one, to run all tests !
