Hi.

Made it to a somewhat final version where I removed as much as I can. Still have a tiny problem. I am not sure if this is normal. The user account I set in setup is running as an (user)-administrator account. For example when deleting a file in a system directory like Downloads it still asks for (administrator)-administrator confirmation.

Not a big problem. Setting the directory to full access to the (user)-administrator account in security solves the problem. Also giving a program top administrator rights solves system access errors.

But I was hoping with a few changes how to set the new user account to full administrator rights. The easiest solve I could think of is setting the user name to 'Administrator' in the unattend setup of winreducer. That way the account is the same as the default in security.

Thanks.

ps. Thought I put it in the Help topic. Oops. Should be over there...

Ok. Thanks. As I have checked something isn't set right in security. Also three unidentified account strings are set in security. Maybe from a previous windows install. If that kind of things are set in folder flags. They probably are. Then I don't have to track components in winreducer. Will try some account tweaks. Maybe can use some integrated registry tweak. Will see.

Back again. Tried several things. Only admin account with automatic login. Works only half way. Accessing is fine. Several errors when starting applications like installers or edge. It says it cannot start using the built-in admin account. Installers does not run because there are no admin privileges. Have no idea how I can fix. Maybe it's a bug. Can not find a workaround. Will wait for next version. Hopefully it will come soon. Maybe somebody has any idea what to do. Thanks.

Hello,

I added this in my ToDo list. Thanks for the report !

Thanks.

I have made a new build from scratch. The user account works again with full control. Still with confirmation messages to the administrator account  I rather do not have any confirmation messages but I can live with that.

Hopefully it will be possible to have an one user admin account combined to the built-in account or an user account with full admin privileges without any nags. Maybe a tweak or a registry setting is possible.

I had the same issue, and it's not WinReducer's fault, it's Microsoft's.

For some reason, someone at Microsoft decided that if the Built In Administrator account was to be activated and used, Universal Apps will stop working, including Edge.

The same happens if you deactivate completely UAC.

So you must live with the administrator notifications when you do pretty much any IO operation on the System Partition.

My partial solution is to use two partitions, one for Windows, and the other one for my data.

Hi.

That is also what I found out how the Built-in administrator works. Already had UAC enabled to get the best performance. Went back to using a user account which had some troubles with policies but got it working somehow when starting from scratch.

Also had troubles with several installers so I dropped the idea and it wasn't needed to proceed the same way.

Used a separate Windows partition for years and years to keep things apart. Also for easier re-installs and getting system up and running again faster.

Thanks.

This is a really annoying issue especially in Windows 7. Later versions are more tolerant. Although you are an administrator or even login with an administator account, it still gives some troubles related to privileges. So I wonder "Is there a super-administrator that Microsoft hides from users?"
