I can't create a local account after accepting EULA and hiding boot image selection, cortana setup and online account. After I install Windows 10, it is asked an "other user" password and not the password from the user I created since that part was skipped.

No, because like I said I didn't have the chance to create an account.

Yes, it's RS3.

Is it possible to copy NTLite's autounattend configuration (which doesn't have this problem) to WinReducer's? But if I do that I'll mess with WinReducer's autounattend which in spite of not being ok has one option configured which doesn't exist in NTLite. Also, I'd like to skip the password hint part.

EDIT: I tried adding some paragraphs from WinReducer's autounattend to NTLite's and copy it to the ISO and it looks like it is ok although I maybe should've copy more paragraphs to have the right configuration and now I have a new message saying that "Something went wrong" but it looks like it's fine, anyway. I still want to have the NTLite's autounattend configuration and the important parts from the WinReducer's.

Ok. I didn't try it in RS2. Did it work with it?

so i did some tests. and its odd, when i use an untouched iso with 8 editions and use an unattanded files created by winreducer, i get an error when booting into the iso file. BUT using the same unattaned file on an reduced iso, it works without problems.

but when i remove the other editions and just leave Pro x64 it works again

here are the indexes:

about your problem, when i switch EULA, hiding boot image, cortana setup and online account to on i should get the "other user" problem?  with an untouched iso? maybe you could post your unattaned file

so i enabled "EULA, hiding boot image, cortana setup and online account" and used an untouched iso where i removed all othe redition exept Win10 Pro x64 (to bypass my problem) and it worked. i could create an offline user and he was loged in after installation. here is the unattanded file:

I removed the "SkipMachine OOBE" part and I could create a local account but I now have the Location, Speech Recognition, Diagnostics, Tailored Experiences with Diagnostic Data and Relevant Ads annoying screen, besides the password hint creation screen which I always had. I don't have the "something went wrong" message. Also, the install is very slow. It takes too much time doing something in cmd.

so if you dont use SkipMachine OOBE it works?

that part is what you mean with the CMD, it takes some time, especially if you dont remove the winsxs install.wim component

It works, but like I told you now I have an additional problem. Now I have the Location, Speech Recognition, Diagnostics, Tailored Experiences with Diagnostic Data and Relevant Ads annoying screen. I don't know if I removed that component you are talking about. So, there's nothing I can do about that? If it doesn't do that my install will take more disk space? I don't remember reading in WinReducer that the install would take longer if that option was activated.

the comand that triggers the CMD window is under the unattanded section in winreducer, if you enable "Winsxs dism cleanup", it does not remove any files directly with winreducer (so the iso size does not change)

you can read more about it here:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Now I have the Location, Speech Recognition, Diagnostics, Tailored Experiences with Diagnostic Data and Relevant Ads annoying screen

i will get a look soon if there are maybe some parts that can be added into the unattanded file so skip those individually

Well, since I don't regain some space it's useless to me. Just to be sure, can I activate something in other sections (apart from Unattend) that can take the install a lof of time doing things during it with cmd, regardless if I save some disk space or not?

How can I skip them individually like you're saying? I have to click in each one of them? I want to avoid that annoying screen.

the component winsxs install.wim in the FINISH tab reduces a lot, but you wont be able to use windows update afterwards.

unfortunatelly yes, if the SkipMachine OOBE is makeing problems for you. but if you create each time the same user you could create one in the top section of the unattanded tab. if he should autologin you can do that too ( i also always set a default password like 123 since i use autologin) that way you shouldnt get the other user problem

EDIT: one suggestion, if you get the "other user" shown and need to enter a password, cant you select "switch user" in the left or right corner and login with the created user?

Sorry, I don't get it. They are different components? I'm only talking about the one in the autounattend part. If I don't enable it I won't regain some disk space but the install won't be so slow by doing something in cmd, right? There are other components if enabled which remove some things and regain some disk space but make the install slow by doing things in cmd just like the component in the autounattend part if enabled, am I right?

The thing is I won't always create the same user. Sorry, what created user?

ah i think i got it wrong. in the unattanded tab you selected "Winsxs dism cleanup" thats why you get this in your unattanded file (nearly at the bottom):

        <RunSynchronousCommand wcm:action="add">
          <Order>10</Order>
          <Description>WinSXSDISMCleanup</Description>
          <Path>CMD /C DISM /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase</Path>
        </RunSynchronousCommand>
      </RunSynchronous>

this opens the cmd file during installation and starts "cleaning" (maybe it removes some files and gets your more space but im not sure which and how much). im not sure what exactly is cleaned but this comand take a lot of time during installation. BUT when you use the component "EXPERT - winsxs  folder cleanup (install.wim)" the cmd comand will only take a couple of sec maybe 1/2min. BUT you wont be able to use windows update anymore !!!

so if you want a fast installation dont select the "Winsxs dism cleanup" in the unattanded part.

only "Winsxs dism cleanup" and "Winsxs dism cleanup (Resetbase)" are the only comands that slow down the installation with a CMD comand (but clean something). the other once like "tun of display" etc which also is a CMD comand takes less than 1 sec

The thing is I won't always create the same user. Sorry, what created user?

hmm if you always create a different user than forget what i said before.
but did you try what i said earlier?

EDIT: one suggestion, if you get the "other user" shown and need to enter a password, cant you select "switch user" in the left or right corner and login with the created user?

at work when i install a computer with our own envirement i also get this "other user" after installation but i can click on switch user and log in via my own user + password, or i can reboot the machine and it works

I don't use the "Use EXPERT Optimizations" in Presets (I checked "Automatic Removing Process" and "Optimize ISO Size" and left all the rest "OFF") and in Unattended I only used the "WinSXS DISM Cleanup" and not the "WinSXS DISM Cleanup (ResetBase)" along with it. So, if I don't use the "WinSXS DISM Cleanup" in Unattended my install won't be so slow but it won't remove some things and therefore won't spare some disk space? According to the information, it won't break something if I choose the "WinSXS DISM Cleanup" and that's why I checked all or almost all the options regarding "WinSXS" which according to the information wouldn't break a thing. Well, in spite of that I prefer not having the install so slow so I won't check it. The problem of not being able to create a local account remains if I uncheck the "WinSXS DISM Cleanup" option in Unattended.

No, I didn't. I have to create another ISO. How can I switch user and how can I log in when I didn't create a user?

There are lots of things in "Finish" that I don't know if I can save a lot of disk space if I check them and regardless of that it will probably make my install slower if I select one or more than one of them. Which "ISO - Compression Mode" option should I choose to spare more disk space? There are 3 options: "Fast", "Maximum" and "Recovery" and the information talks about an "Extreme Mode" which doesn't even exist. I presume it's the "Maximum" mode that it's talking about. I suppose the "Recovery" option spares the most disk space but takes longer. If I check "Windows - WinSXS Backup Folder Cleanup" and "EXPERT - WinSXS Folder Cleanup ("boot.wim") according to the information I won't break anything but will my install be very slow? And what if I choose a option in EXPERT - WinSXS Folder Compression? Will it significantly slow down the install? Between XPRESS4K, XPRESS8K, XPRESS16K and LZX which one spares more disk space and (I suppose) therefore makes the install slower? Don't forget that I checked the "WinSXS DISM Cleanup" option in Unattended.

So, do you advise not to mess with any "WinSXS" options even if they don't break nothing because they make the install very slow or could you tell me which one or ones I can mess without breaking nothing and not drasticaly slowing down the install time even if I choose more than one?

EDIT: I chose not to select any "WinSXS" and selected the "Recovery " option in "ISO - Compression Mode", among other options, and it's taking a long time just to create the ISO.

Hello,

In a Windows ISO you may have multiple Windows Editions (Pro, Home, ...) so if you want to reduce the space disk footprint for your ISO, you need to remove all Windows Editions which you are sure to do not use.

For example, you may try this :
- download an official Windows 10 RS3 ISO
- launch EX-100
- mount the Windows Edition you need, from the official Windows 10 RS3 ISO
- once mounted, go to "FINISH" tab, then go to "ISO File Creator" tab and in "Optimizations" tab just check "ISO - Boot - Delete Unneeded Editions" and also check "ISO - Windows - Delete Unneeded Editions"
- Create a new ISO

==> Finally check the ISO size footprint : you should see a great size reduction ... of course you may also select other components to remove (like those in the "Features", "Remover" or "Services" tabs) Wink

Is there a bug in the winsxs-option in "Unattended"?
