I've made a few custom ISO builds now to test out and all have worked fine (other than that many things still appear which I had specifically removed in the customisation process, but no matter). This time (Windows 10 Pro for Workstations) all I get is a blank blue screen when I attempt to boot from the USB media. No "Install", nothing, just a blank screen staring at me. Blue. I've tried with two different USB devices (using Rufus, testing for bad blocks...) same result. Any ideas? Did I remove too much during the process? The USB sticks work fine otherwise. I'm going to try a non-custom install from the plain Media Creation Tool just to check if it's computer-related too.

Thanks for any help, I'm at a loss.

Update: Yes it's the custom ISO I created that's the problem, no issue with Windows Media Creation Tool on a vanilla install.

Hi Crckdog
i am pretty sure you deleted 1 or more  needed drivers
when making an iso you should take notes  and mark what works for you and what not; this is
a long , not pretty way to go, but it is the only way, without those notes you are gong to  make
the same misyakes over & over , my Winreducer list can help you to organiza this.

icy

PS You can verify what is below, but i doubt  this

In Accessories  Do not remove  Application Experience (Engine)

In Drivers  do not remove
USB  Attached SCSI (USAP)
USB Hub (EHCI, UHCI, OHCI)
USB Hub (Type-C)
USB Hub (xHCI)

and try

hi, you could replace the boot.wim on your usb stick with the one from your untouched iso, that way you should be able to test your reduced image if everything is ok.

Thank you very much, guys. Yes I'm pretty sure I removed the Application Experience (Engine). I didn't see the point of it from reading the help tips. And I will try the boot.wim suggestion.

Turns out it was the Language Support I removed, I think there are 35 packs. icy007 made a post about that but I didn't see it before. So yeah, it won't get even to the Install screen without those included.

I still don't understand why so many things I remove during the Winreducer process still appear in my new install, like Store, Firewall, OneDrive, Update..

Hello Crack Dog Smile

Nice discussion and findings ... thank you very much for sharing this with us !

About your question, this may dependent :
- if you activated in your wccf, some or all protect presets which prevent you from removing functionalities you want (because you activated the according protect preset)
- Another case may be if you used the automatic process option

Hi! Is it possible there is an issue caused by the different compression methods in the last stage (in combination with Expert Optimizations in WinSxS Folder Cleanup)? I notice if I use Xpress4K everything (almost, can't get rid of Store and One Drive) I want removed is actually gone, ie. IE 11, Defender.. using virtually the same preset with the LZX method results in many more things not removed + funny behaviour. I get a final install size (Pro for Workstations) of 6.86 GB vs 8.5 GB with LZX, with some of that larger size being the result of more features included (when I didn't even want/select those) but LZX should be more compact anyway, so something isn't right.

As I say, not exactly an identical process between the versions but only trivial differences in Network and Settings, nothing critical. I've protected: Important Files, Features, Modern UI Apps, Activation GUI, Search, and also used Expert Optimizations, and Automatic Removing Process. A pretty aggressive setup I know but everything works perfectly fine with Xpress4K, most things are broken with LZX...I've tried many different combinations and that seems to be the only common denominator. But anyway, trial and error Smile
