[ANSWERED] Win Converter for Windows 7
Sat 29 Nov 2014 - 17:24
The Software area say that this Tools apply only for 10 or 8.x.
Does that mean that it cannot be used on install.esd coming from a Win7.iso?
Thanks for the help

Hello,
No that means that you need, as installed system, Windows 10 or 8.1 ! But you could use all esd files you want.
I will improve this soon in v2.00 ...

Hello,
Just take care that it will not support encrypt esd files, and there will be a new version 2.00 coming in the next days, with many improvements and a new GUI to support more options and systems ...

about 1.
It was an impression reading some post in the forum. Just forget.
about 2.
as I have only a 8.0 with esd that I can install with the key I have I will be glad to have it "WinReduce".
Future is not a problem for a "retired" man as I am ...
If I can integrate 8.1 that will be more than "great" but that's perhaps just what MS as really well locked ...

Wrong detection: I selected Windows 7 Install.wim, also WIM>ESD. It says: Your operating system is compatible with ESD conversion.
> What this mean? It tells about installed Windows or its about selected wim? What it is possible to convert Windows 7 install.wim to install.esd with WR ES-WIM Converter? And it will work?

As far as I've heard, one needs a Windows 8 or later boot environment for installing Win 7 with an installation media containing ESD. The other thing I've heard is that using such environments breaks AutoUnattended.xml file. I don't know how accurate this is. From my experience, the wim was succesfully converted into esd. But the installation complained about a missing WIM file.

Hello,
Yes sometimes ago, one member has talked about this solution, unfortunately I'm not supporting this kind of solution because this is not an official solution .... but this can't prevent you to try and report on the forum if you find a valid solution
About the unattended file, maybe integrating the xml file directly in your ISO, using dism, should be helpful ... and yes, yes this is a WinReducer option idea I will add in the future
