[SOLVED] [EX-100 - v0.9.5.0] [RS1 Build 14393.00] Search not availableSun 21 Aug 2016 - 21:50

I have had several runs with a clean image to try and get search to work. I secelected the protect preset, unchecked Cortana, but still the search icon does not appear on the taskbar and more importantly I am unable to search within the start menu. Any other things I can check?

Also:
Edge is broken upon .NET clean-up with all options selected under Net Framework. Edge starts but in the address bar an error is shown briefly (aspx related?) after which Edge closes.

Which can be removed/disabled which are required for search?

Hello,

Could you please check if this component has a "true" value :
- "Tweaks - Taskbar - Disable Search Icon" = if 'true" value so it removes the search icon in the taskbar

About Edge and net framework, I will have a look at this in the next days. Thanks for the report.

Yes it was true in an earlier test. I enabled it after installation and that had no effect. I also unchecked it and created a fresh installation. Search button was shown, but does not do anything when I click it. Search in start does not work as well.

Uncheck this (= put it on "false") :

Hi guys, I am facing the exact problem.. I removed cortana and the search icon from the taskbar, then I tried to show the icon but when I click on it nothing happens.. Search only works if I use an "alternative" start menu (StartIsBack).

Another bug I'm facing is that some programs ask me for elevated permission to be run, never happened before.. This one for example:

When I click on it normally it asks me for elevated privileges, but it never happened before..

@[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] also, autounattend doesn't seem to work right.. I set up power scheme to never shut down display, but when I check the options in windows the display is set to shut down after 15 minutes.. Here is my autounattend file:

Edit: also not all the Edge tweaks work, i.e. show home button and other tweaks don't work..

I tried once more with Cortana not removed and the tweaks not selected (integrated 1607-update 14393.187). It seems that SearchUI.exe is not started and I can not start it manually. I used Process Monitor to retrieve more information. Hope this helps:

Found the cause: Start Search requires SearchUI.exe (part of Cortana). SearchUI requires:
Windows\System32\Speech_OneCore

I think in particular:
Windows\System32\Speech_OneCore\Common\sapi_onecore.dll

I will check on next testrun.
