[SOLVED] [Desktop Preset] OOBE Errors

Windows 10 RS4 (x64)

Hi winterstorm,
I installed VirtualBox last night because I've really wanted to use your presets (and finally clean my OS!). I downloaded the ex100_desktop_security_edge_store.wccf and loaded it into Winreducer. When I started the process, saved ISO and tested in VirtualBox, I got this error: https://i.imgur.com/PQCA4Yy.png
I tried again, I clicked skip but the error would not go away. So.. I loaded your preset again and modified it with my own settings. This time I got a different error: https://i.imgur.com/u27WrPy.png but clicking Skip worked. Do you know what the problem is here?

I am shocked at how many services your preset removes haha. I tried to protect Task View but it is broken..

I just tested this preset with RS4 (17134.1 and 17134.407) in a VMware Player virtual machine and in two real machines (laptop and desktop) ... but I did not experience such errors.

Could you please try the same iso (=without creating a new one) in VMware Player :

It only means that the current status in your Edition will not be changed when you will apply your settings

I really don't know what the problem is.. I have a normal Windows 10, installed VMWare, newest WinReducer, tested your Presets and mine.. with the same problems. When I finish the process I select UEFI & BIOS. Is this a problem?

which windows 10 edition are you trying to customize ?

are you using an unattended file ?

Maybe try to download again your ISO from an approved source in this post :

Windows 10 Professional (x64) - Redstone 4 (this is also my current OS)
Not using unattended. I just load your preset and start removing. 

I will download a new .ISO with Media Creation Tool, try again and report back here. See you later!


*Edit: I finally downloaded the latest Windows (Win10_1809Oct_English_x64.iso) and loaded your preset, started the process and then loaded the new ISO in VMWare.. Same error: "OOBEREGION" and when I click Skip, I get the error "OOBEKEYBOARD" and when I try to Skip AGAIN, I get "OOBEIDPS".. click Skip again.. "OOBELOCAL" and no more option to skip lol

My system:
OS: Windows 10 (x64) RS4 - not customised!
GTX 1070ti
i7 8700k
16GB RAM

So, good news I try several ISO and finally reproduce the "OOBE Region" error bug ... but it seems to be very specific to "English" ISO, because with my "French" ISO I'm not able to reproduce it !

I found many discussion in several internet forum about this subject even with non modified iso

Thank you! I really hope there is a fix.. because I can't live without a Winreducer ISO! I've had normal Windows 10 for 6 days and feel very uncomfortable

test 1:
1. Loaded your preset file
2. Changed Language & Keyboard from French to English
3. Start
Result: Same errors...

test 2:
1. Loaded your preset file
2. Changed Language & Keyboard from French to English
3. Changed ALL services to DEFAULT
4. Start
Result: Setup works (https://i.imgur.com/gJ4hYzC.jpg), no OOBE errors.. but hangs forever at Preparing Windows (https://i.imgur.com/ab5wktc.jpg)   Also, I tested with my preset (less items removed) and changed services to DEFAULT. No OOBE errors, installation works.. but very slow. The OS had many problems and ONLY works in VMWare. The problem is more than a service

So I investigated this issue and I found out that "Languages - United Kingdom" was responsible about this error !

I tried several wccf with "Win10_1809Oct_English_x64.iso" and with the fix ... there was no "oobe Region" bug any more !

So could you please try your wccf without removing "Languages - United Kingdom" and let me know. Thanks

Skip worked now.. but I am still worried about this error haha. Do I need v2.0.9.0?

What you're describing "OOBEIDPS" is not the same error as the one I fixed ... but the good news is the "OOBE Region" fix will work in "v2.0.8.1 [VIP] and v2.0.9.0 [ALL]"

1) Have you tried without changing the region and keyboard ?

2) So about this new error, you are using the "ex100_desktop_security_edge_store.wccf" and then change the region and language to "en-gb" (="united kingdom") in your "Win10_1809Oct_English_x64.iso", am I right ?
If yes, do you have a special reason to use this "en-US" iso ...because maybe you should use instead of "Win10_1809Oct_English_x64.iso" (which is an "en-US" system) ... it should be probably better to use the "Win10_1809Oct_EnglishInternational_x64.iso" (which is the "en-gb" system) ... so you will not need to change region and keyboard

3) But it seems there is a bug with what you described ... I will have a look at it as soon as possible

1) Yes, without changing the region / keyboard (default English US) I still get the OOBEIDPS error.

2) Yes, that is true. ex100_desktop_security_edge_store.wccf with the Win10_1809Oct_English_x64.iso but language en-us (have no en-gb). https://i.imgur.com/vTKD8hz.jpg
I also tested with en-us and us keyboard + us time/currency to get the same error. I will download the International version and let you know what happens tomorrow

*EDIT: Downloaded the Win10_1809Oct_EnglishInternational_x64.iso and everything went ok.. until I hit the same OOBEIDPS error. I can skip it without more errors, but I'm still confused about it happening. Thank you for helping me to find the en-gb iso

I enabled Indexing Service (and Control Panel) but got the OOBEIDPS error. This is proving very hard to point the real cause of the problem.

*Edit 3: Same test, loaded ISO, loaded ex100_desktop_security_edge_store.wccf, kept languages but this time I set ALL services to default. No OOBE related errors.. but the setup is broken at Preparing Windows [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
